Rosco is a rather peaceful introvert who doesn't like unneccessary conflicts and rather likes to keep to himself. He does like having company but prefers to listen than contribute to conversations. That isn't to say that he refuses to socialize with others, but he's rather careful of who he meets and tries to not to bring up personal questions. He's more the type who meets someone and forgets to ask for a name and spend the next number of months awkwardly trying to learn what the other's name is. When it comes to work, Rosco becomes detached and aloof to the details and is sure to keep himself from becoming emotionally attached or affected by his occupation. This does make him appear cold and emotionless when dealing with the recently deceased but carries himself this way to protect his mental self. Away from work Rosco is rather relaxed and quiet; though he may be prone to rash decisions every now and then. He can be careful most of the time with money but might sqaunder all that he has to help out others in need. He's also at fault for envying others and their capabilities and doesn't often recognize his own natural talents as something to be proud of. Despite that he's a man who's extremely loyal to others and willing to fight for what he strongly believes is right. Also, thanks to his strained childhood, he can be quick to provocation and acts with little to no hesitation.

History: On a chilly spring morning, Rosco was left by his poor and struggling parents at the front doorsteps of an old and relatively unknown orphange in the mountains. Only 6 months old, he was given up alongside another baby on the very same day and were taken in by the sisters of the orphange right away. Raised knowing only the walls of the orphange, Rosco and the other child grew up like brothers and became incredibly close friends. Mishka the Mew and Rosco the drilbur: a pair as thick as thieves.

Rosco was the quiet one of the troublesome pair, always following the mischeivious Mew wherever he went like a remoraid. Wherever there was trouble or no-good to be had, Rosco was there to pick up the slack and there to stand by his brother whenever a good scolding came their way. However that's not to say that Mishka and Rosco had their own fights. All too often the two would get into scraps with one another; usually caused by disputes on opinions. While Mishka was always full of questions and ideas, Rosco was content with his complacency. The young Drilbur didn't like asking too many questions nor wondered about things that could have been. He was happy where he was in life and wasn't in a rush to change it, much to Mishka's displeasure.

Growing up as the tiniest of the group, Rosco was always picked on and bullied by the other kids, and even Mishka at times. This forced Rosco to grow thicker skin and learn how to fight back fast, molding him into quite the force to be reckoned with. He learned how to fend for himself and stand his own ground. Though Rosco was loyal to his brother, he knew that he needed to keep Mishka in line and was usually there to protect the other children from serious injury during some fights that broke out on occasion. However, Rosco didn't fight Mishka for the sake of the other children, but for Mishka himself. He did his best to control his brother but he wasn't always around to stop fights that went bad.

While Mishka's questions and ideas fueled his impulsiveness and aggression, Rosco's complacency and stubborness to refuse change made him aggressive for different reasons. Rosco was an independent child who didn't need anyone to tell him right from wrong and often found himself disagreeing with the sisters of the orphanage about his brother. They were keen on dealing with Mishka in archaic and useless methods that only riled up the Mew further while Rosco dealt with the sources of aggravation directly: the other children of the orphanage. Though they were ignorant being so young, the other children often mistreated the two boys and always sought ways to provoke or bully the pair to get them into trouble. Mishka, at the time, was too wild to realize this but Rosco knew, resulting in him getting into more fights with the other kids than Mishka. Rosco was intent on helping his brother in any means possible but the path of violence only perpetuated their reputations. No one wanted to adopt either of them and neither of the boys were intent on being separated from each other.

Years began to pass and soon Mishka and Rosco began to approach their 11th birthdays with no prospects of ever being adopted. By this time the two were almost uncontrollable. Between Mishka's mischievous leadership and Rosco's developed agressive behaviour, fights almost always errupted wherever the pair would go and the sisters of the orphanage were growing weary and fearful of the two. Mishka, in particular, was a problem because by this time everyone had discovered his innate psychic ability of teleportation and slight telekinesis. No one clearly understood what Mishka actually was capable of and began to distance themselves from the boys in fear and hate. Such negativity began to eat away at Mishka and laid a heavy blanket of worry on Rosco. Just days before their birthdays, however, they received an opportunity that they couldn't refuse that would forever change their lives. Towering over the children like an frightening and imposing giant, the cold and mean Raticate undertaker Sven from the next town over came to take one of the children. He was growing old in age and had no children of his own to take over his business and so sought a capable young heir to succeed him. His eyes immediately fell upon the frightened and intimidated Rosco and became incredibly insistant that he'd take the young drilbur, much to the sisters' warnings and protests. Rosco, however, would have none of it, stating quite clearly that he was never going to be adopted without his brother by his side. He began to protest and lash out with no intention of leaving this place behind without Mishka and fought to sway the old man's heart. When all hope seemed to be lost, however, Sven finally caved in- too tired and cranky to fight with a kid barely half his size and finally settled on adopting both of the boys to finally shut-up Rosco's annoying pleas.

The two were taken away to the small town of Karmala where they were immediately put to work. Sven was an extremely hard-to-please individual with very strict rules. He had a very low tolerance for foolish behaviour and was quick to put a stop to any protests or rebellion. Though Rosco decided to take the easy route and just listen to what he was told to do, Mishka had to fight against everything Sven told him to do. In the beginning Mishka had always relied on Rosco to back him up but that quickly changed when Rosco started to see how unreasonable it was to fight the old man at every turn. Working hard every single day along with puberty, Rosco grew in both size and strength exponentially while his brother stayed the same, leading to fights and squabbles breaking out even over the simplest of things with Rosco taking the win every time. Rosco was too young and foolish at the time, however, to properly deal with Mishka's increasing rebellion and found himself pushing his brother further and further away from him. He had used to respect and look up to Mishka as kids, but began to look at him with different eyes. Rosco had always been jealous of Mishka for his incredible intellect and ability to learn everything and fought hard  to win both his and Sven's respect with an honest and hardworn effort.

Rosco did eventually win Sven's respect but wound up pushing Mishka away, causing the troubled youth to flee away from home at every opportunity. For a while Rosco hardly heard from his brother who would sneak away and started to feel worry and regret. As time passed, however, Rosco began to see a change in his brother. Something in town had an impact on Mishka as he gradually started to put a genuine effort into his share of the work. A positive influence worked its way through Mishka who began to settle down. Rosco had inquired about this a few times, but was usually answered by a faint smile or shake of the head. Once in a while he'd get his brother to speak but what he spoke of often went over his head. It was hard to understand but Mishka spoke of 'scriptures' and a man named Ruben; things Rosco didn't quite know and couldn't ask more about.

A few times Mishka invited Rosco to sneak into to town with him, but Rosco had found himself declining each invite. Though he liked seeing his brother maturing, Rosco wanted to discover life on his own out from under the wing of his brother. These 'scriptures' were something Mishka had found on his own and Rosco wanted to find something for himself. And that something was right in front of him the whole time. Though life as an undertaker didn't have much of a promising future, it was a secure job that he was more than capable of doing. Added on top of that was the debt he felt he owed to Sven who took it upon himself to adopt both Rosco and Mishka together. He found himself understanding the stubborn old Raticate more and more as the years passed and discovered just what kind of person Sven actually was. Though he was usually angry from morning till night, Sven actually carried quite the damaged past. From losing his young wife and entire family to fleeing his own country, Sven had no one to rely on and no one to talk to for many decades while in Karmala. He grew bitter and lonely, eventually taking the role of undertaker in the community and began to shut himself away from the rest of the world. However, growing older, Sven knew that he wasn't going to live forever and sought someone to take his place- someone to acknowledge who he was and what he once did in life. He may have adopted Rosco and Mishka to become his successors, but also adopted the two in a fool's hope to having sons- an opportunity he had never been given in his previous life.

Rosco didn't want to abandon Sven now knowing what kind of past he had and felt that if he were to leave the old man, he'd be no different from his parents who left him on the orphanage doorsteps so many seasons ago. When Mishka approached Rosco some time later, he felt no different about his decision to stay. He did listen to his brother though, and understood in his heart that some people were meant to leave home and move on in life, however. Rosco listened to Mishka as he poured his heart out while asking for his forgiveness; Mishka had done many wrong things and felt it right to confess his wrong-doings to his brother before later asking one of the most important questions in Rosco's life. Leave home and follow a future he can choose, or stay and follow the path already laid out for him. He gave his reply and had said his farewells to his brother for the very first time the following night. Mishka left home with only a few dollars and a small satchel in hand and wouldn't be seen again for over a decade.

Rosco continued his apprenticeship under Sven and eventually succeeded him while in his early twenties. Sven finally stepped down from his role and passed it onto Rosco who had since become an Excadrill. It was a hard and depressing job but he had become used to the lifestyle and found the routine to be second nature, learning ways to cope with the stress and problems. What really helped to pull him through the tough times, however, came in the form of letters. Letters sent by Mishka to be exact. To the surprise of Rosco and Sven, Mishka wrote home almost everyday. Though he didn't start to send them till 2 years after leaving home, Mishka wondered constantly how everyone was back home. At first Rosco felt frustration toward these letters thanks to being illiterate and relied heavily on Sven each time to read them aloud. As years went by, however, Rosco did learn how to read and write (picking up a pair of glasses along the way too) and wrote back as often as he could, making his goal to write at least 2 full pages of text each time despite his gradeschooler level of reading. These letters helped the boys cope through both the thick and thin of their lives and reaffirmed their brotherly bond. From serious woes to silly stories about slowpokes, Rosco and Mishka kept up with the writing for many years (and even continue to do so today), until finally Mishka returned home at the age of 26. He came home a changed man and sought to rebuild his relationship with Sven, the man who became his and Rosco's father, and wished to renew the brotherhood he shared with Rosco. Rosco couldn't have been more proud of brother and gave his reply that there wasn't any need to do so in the first place. And though Mishka and Rosco now live their own individual lives standing on opposite sides of life- Mishka as a priest and Rosco as an undertaker- they'll always be there for each other to stand together as equals.

  • Was adopted at a young age by an old Raticate undertaker, Sven, along with his brother, Mishka the Mew.
